This Week…

August 18, 2011

It’s been a week since I announced our new ministry assignment. God has blessed us with a great church family and friends–your response has been kind and encouraging.

There are so many things that we need to do to get ready for the move…but this week has been spent focusing on relationships and trying to get things ready for Calvary to move ahead.

One the highlights of the week has been hearing from college students who took the “48 Challenge” (4 solid friends and 8 Christ-honoring decisions in the first 48 hours).  My heart leaps when our students report their Christ-honoring trajectory from the college campus!

What about you?  Have you invited friends to help you walk with God?  Are you making decisions that reflect the Lordship of Christ?  Are you expecting God to work in your daily circumstances?

“Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen!”   (Eph 2:20-21)

Garage Sales & Southside Offering

October 16, 2010

Quite a few have given this testimony:

Pastor:
We really wanted to participate in the Southside offering but we didn’t have any money. We looked around the house, trying to come up with a way to give and decided to have a Garage Sale. It went very well. We made $_____ and gave it all as our offering. We are so excited that we were able to find a way to give!”

These testimonies confirm what we anticipated God doing during the month of October. The Southside Ministry will be blessed through this offering….and we are blessed as we find a way to give!

First Report on Southside Offering

October 10, 2010

Unto Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly beyond all we could ask or think!

Wow–What a day!  On the first day of the offering–we have enough to close on the property!

As of tonight, God’s People have given $454,194 for the purchase of Calvary: Southside.

Remember, our goal is $400,000 to purchase the property (set to close Nov 1st) and $150,000 more for repairs/upfitting and 2 yrs operating costs($50,000) for a total of $600,000.

So, here’s the report.    Goal: $600,000 …..Given: $454,194……Needed: $145,806

What now?  Let’s continue to pray and watch how God works through His People between now and the end of October!

10.10.10 Big Day at Calvary

October 9, 2010

Tomorrow is a big day at Calvary!

As one teenager posted on Facebook:

‘anyone who goes to calvary.. I encourage and remind you to pray
specifically about how you can give this sunday to the southside
offering. God’s gonna do great things with that ministry -He already
is.

We are asking God to move His people to give $600,000 above our regular tithes and offerings. Have you prayed about your part?

Get ready!

Begging for the Privilege…

October 2, 2010

“…they begged us insistently for the privilege of sharing in the ministry to the saints…”
(II Cor. 8:4)

Testimonies have a way of challenging us.  In this letter to the Corinthians, Paul’s shares the testimony of the Macedonians and how they responded when it came time to give an offering.   Paul says their attitude toward giving is a testimony to the work of God’s grace.

As God moved in the hearts of His people, they begged for the privilege of giving.  Their hearts were moved by the Spirit and they wanted to get in on what God was doing.

We have seen that same kind of moving in our church family.  People have seen the needs of Southside and understood the moving of God and asked….

“When can we give?
Can I get in on what God is doing?”

Certainly you can give whenever you are ready.  We are asking our church family to carefully pray and prepare.

“Let each one do just as he has purposed in his heart…”
(2 Cor. 9.7)

We are anticipating many  will chose to bring their offering next week, October 10th.  On that morning we take some extra time for a separate offering that will remind us all of what we are doing and how we are doing it  (giving the money needed without impacting regular tithes and offerings).

I hope that you will take some extra time to pray with your family and friends this week.  Ask God for the privilege of joining in His work and ask Him to show you what to give.

The testimonies below may motivate you like the story of the Macedonians challenged the Corinthians.  Check them out….
